Research Basics is a free, self-paced online research skills course intended to help you build your research skills and prepare for college work.

The course consists of three modules focused on effective searching, establishing credibility, and citing scholarly work. Each module has three sections, and each section includes a 10-minute video overview of the topic.

After watching each video, use a set of practice questions to test what you've learned and then take an assessment quiz for the full module. Upon the successful completion of a module quiz, you earn a virtual badge!

What is Workspace?

When you register for a personal JSTOR account, you'll get access to your own personal Workspace. With your Workspace, you can:

Viewing your Workspace

  • You must first have a registered JSTOR account and be logged into your account. If you're not logged in, you'll be prompted to register or log in.

 

 

  • Select Workspace in the main navigation at the top of the page.
  • Or hover over the Tools menu in the main navigation at the top of the page, and select Workspace in the drop-down menu.
  • Or select the Workspace link in the notification pop-up that appears after after you save an item.
