Using the Library: Magazines and E-Resources

This guide is a break down of what the library can offer and how we can help you be your best (student) self!

Pamphlets

Pamphlets

Pamphlets can be found in filing cabinets around the library space. Usually itmes labelled as a 'pamphlet'. They are still ordered by the Dewey Decimal System. Make sure when you're looking for items to check if its a book or a pamohlet. This might explain why you can't find something on the shelves

OpenAthens

Open Athens

The Library provides access to a number of e-journal titles and resources databases.

On campus, you can access these through the library website. The databases know you're an NCAD student if you access them on campus but you will need you student number and myNCAD password.

Off campus, you need to log in using your Open Athens login details first - this mimics the effect of being on campus, as far as the databases are concerned, it's just one extra step.

IT support will send these details to your student email.

The Chill Space

Want to Relax with a Magazine?

If you want to sit down and relax with a magazine we have an informal reading area called 'The Chill Space'. Situated next to the printers, this area welcomes light reading and conversation, providing a casual setting to relax and look at magazines, pamphlets or sort through books you have found on the shelves while browsing.

Journals

Print Journals, pamphlets and E-Resources

The Library subscribes to a number of print journals on behalf of its users - new ones come in every day, so be sure to check the shelves regularly!

Print Journals are now available(for the first time ever) to be taken out on loan!

The Library also collects large numbers of pamphlets and exhibition catalogues - there aren't available to loan, but free to browse and read within the library!
